Getting to know you. Again.

i finally met up with my primary school friends, after 15 years! (okay so now you know my age. lol.) there was a lot of planning going on and i missed it the first time round with Peiyi, Peiqi & Betsy. i remember that gathering was a lot bigger but ended up with the said 3 only. me, i got stuck at work so i couldn't make it then.

this time Peiyi did the planning (i think), like making sure we're all free on the same date etc. plan was to finally meet and catch up with Yihui and i think the plan turned out pretty awesome, because we were 3, and plus 1. (realise that sounds somewhat scandalous LOL.)

so we made plans to meet at serangoon gardens at a super-ulu italian restaurant Buono. turned out that besides Peiyi and Yihui, Peimin was coming too! she just came back from Chengdu after a long long time and i was really excited to meet them.

and then i was late. lol. okay can i just say that the map on the iphone is really retarded because i was using it to gauge the bus stop i was supposed to alight at, and by the time the location could sync with the phone i was past 1 bus stop. so i had to walk about 1.5 bus stops in the slight drizzle and kinda dark ulu area. lol dramatic much.

anyhoo. i thought i was headed the wrong way because you really cannot see the restaurant, especially if the roads are packed with cars (they practically block your view of the entire road till the end) because the restaurant is right inside. which is good, i think. like Yihui said, serangoon gardens is packed all the time and Buono provides a good ambience minus the crowd. however, the restaurant is comfortably filled with families and while i was approaching the entrance, i overheard a lady say "the restaurant is full already!" so please make a reservation if you're planning to check out the place. the boss is really nice and has a generic italian restaurant boss angmoh face. haha!

you'd think that a reunion dinner i'd have loads of photos to post. i don't. because we're so mature and got caught up with conversation. no laaaa we forgot. ><" which is a pity because the photos would have been a great keepsake.

so the conversation inevitably steered to MEN, for what do you get when you put 4 ladies together. lol. some things don't change. :)

our night ended with an inpromptu movie Final Destination 5 and besides being frozen in the newly-renovated Lido, we kinda freaked out at the scenes. lol. it was awesome. actually, i was lmao-ing more than scared because the movie was SO exaggerated, i think for 3D's sake. but HENG we watched the non-3D one. don't really wanna experience a bloody piece of body part flying into my face.

at one point when Peiyi was deciding on her ice-cream (we had ice-cream while waiting for the movie to start), the rest of us were trying to recall if Peiyi was ever so random in primary school, and we decided that i was supposed to be the random one. even i agreed but i dunno why i was so quiet (or more quiet than usual). intimidated by Peiyi. HAHA.

actually, i might have been a little inferior. life is so weird. they are the established, mature ladies and i'm still a kid (at heart, in person) at 27. i may never want to admit i'm getting older but it will always be in my face. and i haven't accomplished much. Peimin's happily married, she's a manager with opportunies to work overseas. i haven't really figured out what Yihui does but she has contacts, and obviously successful in her work. did i mention Peiyi is an engineer in a construction line? she's damn awesome. i think she gets to scold some banglahs too. lol.

and then there's me, from a laboratory technician to an assistant chemist. if you're in the chemical industry, you'll know that there's not a difference between the terms, only more fancy. i don't want to be in the lab forever. :( BUT i believe in opportunities, and i'm gonna set the wheels turning, starting tomorrow. stay tuned.

by the way, the food was really good. but then i'm biased towards pasta so don't trust me. i will post up some photos of the food later because apparently Peiyi did take some.
